REUSE OF THE GREEN COCONUT SHELL FOR POTENTIAL USE AS A SUSTAINABLE COMPOSITE
Abstract
In the current condition of a growing scarcity of raw materials that can supply the market, the search for alternative materials appears as a viable opportunity. Many by-products and materials that could sometimes be considered as waste can become an alternative for research and development of new materials. In this context, it is proposed to evaluate the studies that include the use of green coconut shell fiber for potential use as a natural composite co-product. In order to establish an in-depth survey of references, a bibliographic review was performed based on Snowball method. It was possible to determine that the reuse of the green coconut shell is a viable alternative in different applications, but that the studies of this theme are very focused on the technical questions and little on the aspects of sustainability in a systemic way.
